NEXT ON THE AGENDA!!

As many of you may have heard, Axis is closing it's doors. We're all pretty bummed about it and are saddened by the truth that many of our dancers, whom we've worked so hard with and have seen improve above and beyond for the past few years, will be forced to find new studios. Tiffany and Kalli are lucky enough to have worked at other studios this past year and have built outstanding relationships with these studio directors. We're strongly encouraging Axis students to enroll at these schools, both of which are nearby to Axis.
One studio is Advanced Performance Dance (AP Dance) in Daybreak. 11557 Roselawn Way (5005 W). The owner is Julie Fisher. Please visit her website: apdance.weebly.net you can also email her with any questions at apdance01@yahoo.com

The other is Extravadance in West Jordan. 8524 S Welby Farm Road (4300w). The owner is Cindy Wiggins. Extravadance's website is: extravadancestudio.com you can also call the studio with any questions at 801-280-0838

At both studios your students will continue to grow and learn in a challenging and positive atmosphere. Both studios offer competition teams for ages 5 and older and are awarded highly at competitions. As well Ap Dance and Extravadance offer combo and recreational classes. The directors of both AP Dance and Extravadance are veterans in the dance world and are extremely dedicated to providing quality dance education to their students.

You are always welcome to ask Tiffany and Kalli any questions about either studio, or any other studios for that matter. The most important thing to both of us, is that your dancers are moving on to a quality school and that they'll continue to improve and develop into the beautiful dancers we see them growing into.

Parents and students, thanks for all your hard work, for your patience, your dedication and your support in these past years. We really are so lucky to have this job, it's your dancers that make our job what it is and we love it. Please keep in touch with us, we love to see how our dancers are doing and how they're growing. You can find us both on Facebook, please look for us there!
WE LOVE YOU ALL!!

Alexander's Burial Fund

Here is a link to donate to Natalie and Stetson's son Alexander's burial fund. We all love Natalie and are grieving with her at this time. Any little bit helps, any words of kindness and thoughts and prayers are well appreciated and very helpful. Thank you for the love and support you've all already shown. How truly grateful we are to have such a wonderful dance family.
Thanks again.

Alta Ridge Performance

Great job at our first competition guys! We rocked it! We brought home a bunch of firsts and scored super high on all of our dances! Now that we've been working our booties off (and will keep working them off) these past few weeks, we're going to do so well at our next competition. We don't want our dances to get rusty though, so we've got a sweet little performance set up for the residents at Alta Ridge Retirement Center (1928 West 9800 South). Just a few dances have been chosen to perform. Please arrive at 10:30 am with hair and makeup done, we'll begin at 11:00, and should be no longer than 1/2 hour.
The order of the performance is:

1.Flintstones
2.Little Wonders
3.Izze's Solo
4.First Love
5.Colors of the Wind
6.Alexis Solo
7.Witch Doctor (Kalli's combo)

We're excited to show off our adorable dancers. :)
Remember, our next competition is May 6&7 at Kearns High School. We'll post the lineup as soon as we get it.

Xcite, Xcell and Xtraordinaire Hair Tutorial

I did my best on this tutorial... if you've met Izze, you know she's a wiggle worm and hard to keep still. I was only using my phone for the pictures and you have to forgive my messy bathroom, try not to judge me, I'm a busy dance teacher and a mom! :)

OK, the first steps are the same for all the teams. I start by wetting down the top of her head and parting it on left.

1st

Next, I section off a small rectangle (maybe an inch or slightly less) in the front, if your daughter has bangs section off just a little bit more than the bangs. I make sure this is pretty wet so it'll stay in place, maybe even spritz some hairspray.

2

Now you twist, start at the part, twist a tiny bit, then slowly add hair as you twist across, ending on the other side. Without adding anymore hair, keep twisting a little bit to keep the twist tight.
3

Add a very small section of non-twisted hair and fasten to the twist using a small, clear ponytail holder. My extra section is a little bigger so you can see it better.

4

This next part is mostly for the Flintstone hairdo. And where it got to be too hard for Izze to hold still... Pulling up the sides and leaving most of the back down, pull into a ponytail, don't pull the pony all the way through.

5

I don't have a bone, so I used a bow instead. Use your bone to prop up your spikes and hairspray them into place. Straighten the hair that is down, slightly flip it out too. Hairspray EVERYTHING... and then hairspray it again... and then once more for good measure. Then I'll probably spray it too... just to be safe. Just make sure everything is smooth and going to stay in place.

6

For Colors of the wind and all Xtraordinaire.

Pull up sides and leave most of the back down, pull into a ponytail, slightly lower than Flintstones hair. Straighten and flip out the hair that is down.

7

This is how it looks from the front. Hairspray everything into place, make sure it's smooth and not going to fall out.

I sure hope this helps all of you and I hope it's easy enough to understand.

If it's not I'll try to find a video or I'll make a quick video tutorial. If you have questions please let me know!

Welcome to the Axis Blog!

I'm hoping this blog will help us all keep track of what's going on at Axis and to keep everyone informed. At the very least we can share hair tutorials, makeup tutorials and our love of Axis!
:)
